There are different hair transplant methods. One of these methods is called DHI hair transplant. Also known as direct hair transplant, this operation is one of the most preferred transplant methods. As more and more people are choosing to have hair transplant, doctors are finding new methods.

In the past, hair transplant started with FUT – follicular unit transplant. However, this method leads to scarring. Later, FUE – follicular unit extraction method is introduced. In fact, FUE is still one of the most popular methods. FUE and DHI are currently applied by most hair transplant surgeons.

DHI Hair Transplant

In DHI hair transplant, both hair collection and hair implanting are completed with the same device. This enables hair roots to be implanted without losing time. As hair roots spend more time outside, they tend to get weaker. This affects the results of the operation.

DHI operation uses special CHOI pens. Hair grafts are collected with these CHOI pens. Also, the same pens are used for implanting the hair. This way, hair roots are less subjected to external factors. However, there is one limitation of this operation. The number of grafts that can be collected and implemented in one session is limited to 2.000. If more grafts are needed, an FUE hair transplant would be a better option.

Benefits of DHI Transplant

One of the most important benefits of DHI hair transplant is achieving a more natural hairline. Hair roots are implanted one by one without opening channels. This way, the doctor can adjust each graft in line with the original hairline.

Another benefit of this transplant is that there is almost no bleeding. Since there is no channel opening, bleeding during the operation is minimized. Also, doctors can adjust the hair grafts based on hair growth direction. This way, DHI results are natural-looking and it is hard to distinguish if a person had hair transplant.
